Growing Up

Maya's been very actively exploring her world and adding to her list of accomplishments everyday. She took her first steps two days ago, has added the words 'duck' and 'quack' to her vocabulary (her favorite animal by far), is capable of signing 'more' and 'all done' during meal times (when the mood so strikes her, that is), and even gives wet, sloppy, mouth-wide-open kisses when you ask for one (again, only if the mood strikes her, but it usually does). Her receptive vocabulary has grown quite a bit too. I've been encouraging her to take better care of her baby dolls by often telling her to "rock the baby" and "kiss the baby" - both of which she'll do now :) It's so fun to see her begin to understand some of the things we say to her.

She hopped inside her toy box

She's suspicious of toothbrushes that make noise

Silly girl

The other morning I actually added "Maya not taking the bows out of her hair" to my prayer list. I told God that it would make me really happy if he could make Maya just leave the blasted bow in her hair and not take it out the second I put it in. And guess what happened?

She wore a bow!

All day!

She even wore one the next day, too :)

I'm still a little beside myself that God heard my prayer about the bows. Only he knew how happy it would make me :)

Pretty in Pink

Some of Maya's latest developments include:

1. A greater interest in walking. Definately not there yet, but ever since she got back from Livvy's birthday party with all the big kids she seems to have wanted to try more. She uses this little walker to get around or some help from us, of course. Won't be long!

2. She's breaking a new tooth on the bottom :( This makes me sad. I won't have the two-tooth grin anymore :( Growing up. This is also sad because our whole household loses sleep when this little one is teething. Luckily, my mom sent some Orajel and we all managed to sleep through the night last night :)

3. Maya's official first word is "Hi!". Very fitting for this little social butterfly.

Catching Up

Playing catch up with posting pictures of this last month.

This was an expression she did consistently for about a week - the squinty eye smile

Eating at Pizza Hut

At Jo and Misi's engagement party

Maya's very happy they're finally engaged

Someone's excited about riding the motorcycle for the first time :)

On their way to their first day of class. I felt like such a mom taking pictures on their first day.

Triple date with the Kleins and future Gibsons to celebrate Vik's birthday

Happy Birthday, Vikki!

Some of my best friends. So thankful.

Could not be any CUTER!

Busy, busy, very busy.

At this church service Maya crawled right up into this man's lap and just sat for a while.

This girl loves her rice. All of her Indonesian friends very much appreciate this about her.

Coban Rondo

Shortly after Ashley and David arrived we took them to a waterfall called Coban Rondo about an hour away from our house.

It was a little chilly and I forgot her jacket so Daddy shared his with her.

Together!

Nothing more fun than ridin' on Daddy's shoulders

2 Beauties - my sis and the waterfall

We were getting really wet because of the mist

Maya doesn't seem to mind being wet though

Pure delight

Maya takes the wheel

David loved the fact that there aren't any fences at the zoo in Indo :)
So thankful to have my sister and David here for a few months!
