He is Risen!

Happy Easter! Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving your life for us! Here are some family pics from our Easter here in Indonesia.

 Maya was smiling in all three!!!! Miracle! Well, not really...Uncle Dave was the one taking the pictures. No wonder.

Ummm...could she be ANY cuter?!?!

 Ok, ok already. It was staged. Maya didn't find any Easter eggs of her own during the hunt. But Ashley and I really wanted a picture of her picking up an egg so we put one right in front of her in plain sight. You do what you gotta do.

She became very involved and interested in this stick. Couldn't put it down for about 10 minutes.

Oh, and by the way, let me just say that I am so proud of Maya's hair bow. I made it! Ok, well, Vikki actually did most of it. But I was there and assisted her. Anyhow, made me so happy that she had a bow that matched her dress exactly!

Seems like a vain comment to make on our Easter post...but I just had to mention it because of how proud I am about it.

Playing with Tasya

One of Maya's closest Indonesian friends is a sweet little girl named Tasya. She is a little older than Maya (2 1/2 years old) but they have lots of fun together! We took them to play at a new play area in a mall here in town.

Busy Bee

Yes, Maya is a very busy bee but the reason I named this post 'Busy Bee' is because that is the name of a class Maya attended earlier this month. At the mall here in our city there is a place called Busy Bee that offers classes for toddlers, giving them a chance to play and socialize with other kids. She LOOOOVED it. The "class" is only 45 minutes long but they have a mini-obstacle course set up where the kids climb up a ladder, go down a slide, go through hoops, etc and then sing songs and such afterwards. There were only two other kids there with their mommas but Maya made friends with all of them very quickly. She immediately walked up and greeted them with kisses and hellos. She was just on cloud nine, getting to play with others and go through the obstacle course. Made me want to look for more opportunities to get her out and around kids more during the week just seeing how happy she was!

North Bali Beauty

The beach in North Bali is possibly one of the most peaceful places on the planet. So glad that this time we had the chance to show off the beauty of Indonesia to Ashley and David! Can't beat it- only $65 a night for a place right on the beach!!!

Maya hasn't really gotten the hang of patiently waiting for her meal at restaurants. MJ is taking on the role of entertainment committee here.

Jimbaran and Rice Fields

In March we also had the chance to attend a conference in Bali as well as take a four day vacation afterwards. Here are some pics of us at Jimbaran - a beautiful beach in South Bali where you can watch the sunset over the ocean as you eat fresh fish, crab and shrimp! I usually don't particularly care for crab and shrimp but it was YUMMY!

 After the conference we jumped in a car and drove 4 hours to the north shore of Bali. We stopped off in MJ and I's favorite place on the planet...Ubud. Ubud is a little artsy town in Central Bali with lots of art museums, coffee shops and gorgeous rice fields. One of our favorite spots in Ubud is a little organic restaurant located in the middle of acres and acres of rice fields- far away from the noise of everything. You have to trek about a quarter of a mile on a tiny footpath before you find your way to it, which is half the fun! MJ discovered it three years ago when he went off by himself trying to take the back way to an art museum and ended up falling into a ravine and breaking his foot. But that's another story!
